Black Eye’s very own Grace Cheong has just returned from the DesignThinkers conference in Toronto—Canada’s foremost graphic design conference. She says it was an exciting and inspirational experience to see so many amazing designers speak about their ideas and work.
The highlights were keynote speeches by Stefan Sagmeister and James Victore. Sagmeister was funny, engaging and showed how creative you can get and still get your message across. Victore tried to answer the question “Why has graphic design become so damn boring?”
Grace was especially fascinated by a talk from Jenn and Ken Visocky O’Grady about the importance of research-driven design—a facet of design that Black Eye already practices and is bringing much more to the forefront of all our planning.
It’s good to have her back and thrilling to see the lights of inspiration in her eyes!
